The nature and complexity of selection studies depend on the client’s needs and the information on the required site criteria and utilization that has already been developed.  It may be incorporated as part of a complex feasibility study, including conceptual designs, logistical analysis of transportation networks, a large search area, and a staged analysis of potential sites. In its simplest form, a client may have an established set of criteria and small list of sites to be considered, needing only an opinion on a technical, logistical, or economic factor that would impact the optimum choice.
